Following our earlier report, HB2528 passed through the House, and the Governor signed the bill into law on May 13, 2010. It amends K.S.A. 22-2807 by adding the following :
– An appearance bond is revoked by the execution of a warrant for a defendant’s arrest for a violation of a bond condition
– Surety must provide a written statement, signing under penalty of perjury, when proving a defendant is incarcerated somewhere within the United States
– No judgment may be entered against the obligor in an appearance bond more than two years after a defendant’s failure to appear
