All eyes are on Santa Clara County in California: last month the County’s Board of Supervisors struck a surprise blow to their pretrial release services by ordering a complete review of their organization—the first time this has happened in 40 years!
When the ineffectiveness of pretrial release is finally exposed, it is inevitable that the taxpayer funded program will be eradicated, especially in such a bankrupt state. However, we know supporters will do everything in their power to avert this exposure on their poor performance. That is why we are sending a letter to all of our California bail bond agents, asking them to help join the Professional Bail Agents Association of Santa Clara County in this cause.
To actualize major reform all across the country, we have to start small. A victory in Santa Clara County will ignite an overhaul in the entire state of California, and California itself—already a trendsetter in many different arenas—will help change the discourse nationwide.
We have donated $5,000 this year and $10,000 last year to support this fight for you and for the California bail bond industry. If you would like to learn more on how you can help support this effort, we ask that you contact Association President Tedd Wallace at (408) 293-6900. Every bit helps, and as we learned from the Virginians for the Preservation of Bail and their fight, progress is possible.
