Putting a Light on Pretrial Service Agencies: It’s Finally Time for Transparency
Yesterday, Texas Republican Rep. Ted Poe submitted HR 1885, which requires that state and local pretrial service agencies receiving federal financial assistance report to the Department of Justice on defendants released by such agencies and for other purposes. This is a very important piece of legislation for our industry as it finally calls for taxpayer funded pretrial service agencies to share and report their results.
