BEWARE: Bail Bond Scam Alert

February 9, 2011Posted by Eric Granofin News
Bail Bond Scam

We have recently been notified by several bail bond agents around the country of a credit card scam focused on bail agents and bail bond consumers.

What happens is the bail agent is contacted by an individual claiming to be a sheriff or police officer. They state they are investigating stolen credit cards and want to verify the last credit card they processed. When asked for further information, the person hangs up.

We advise everyone to please be careful who you give personal information out to. Best practices are to never give information out (especially credit card information) to anyone who you don’t contact directly. If this happens to you, please try and get as much information as possible and then report the person to the authorities. Also, please notify your bail bond customers of this type of activity so they are protected as well.

If this has happened to you and you can provide advice or information to other bail agents, please post it on the AIA Facebook page.
